I first flew BKV and BKW around 1954 when the Auckland Aero club got them at Mangere where the international airport is now. It was just a grass strip where the tower used Aviation Light Signals. I don't know whether they Radio Control or not.
The Aero Club also had a Beechcraft Staggerwing and of course Tiger moths.
It was a beautiful little aircraft, noisy but much for fun than the later PA18a PA28 Cherokee.
